Calgary Affordable Housing Foundation Announces HomeSpace as a Partner

Calgary, AB — The launch of the Calgary Affordable Housing Foundation (CAHF) on April 9th, set the tone for a future of collaboration.

13 years ago, a group of nine social serving agencies launched the innovative Calgary’s Collaborative Capital Campaign for Affordable Housing (formerly known as RESOLVE). This campaign took a unprecedented approach to raising funds, raising $74 million dollars to provide a safe and affordable place to call home for nearly 2000 Calgarians. With the help of RESOLVE, HomeSpace completed 13 buildings with a total of 458 affordable housing units to provide families and individuals with a place to call home. The success of this campaign highlights the need for more permanent funding with this same approach.

Calgary Affordable Housing Foundation exists to address this need and aims to continue the success of a collaborative fund for affordable housing providers. HomeSpace is grateful for the opportunity to kickstart this initiative as one of the first partners of CAHF. They are committed to helping us raise funds for our new development in the community of Whitehorn/Horizon. This 52-unit project will serve as transitional housing for families at risk or experiencing homelessness. See here for an update on this project.

Taking a collaborative approach to tackling the gap in non-market housing supply has proven effective in the past and now we can continue to carry on this legacy by providing housing to those who need it most.
