The building was purchased in January 2010 with $4,406,772 from the Government of Alberta, private financing of $1.4 million over three years from Canadian Avatar Inc. and a donation of $500,000 from Gary Nissen. Mr. Nissen contributed $400,000 to the mortgage in 2014, leaving the current mortgage at $1 million. CUPS provides resident referrals, income testing, supports and community building. KAIROS Calgary also helps with building projects and resident support.
