Buffalo, NY - March
1, 2007 - Homespace Corporation
has appointed Kim Morris executive director after conducting a
nationwide search for a leader to replace outgoing Executive Director
Thelma Roberts. Roberts will retire in early 2007.
Homespace provides
transitional living and skills training for young, homeless parents
in the Buffalo/Niagara region.
"Homespace is delighted to welcome Kim as our new executive director," said
Michael Keating, president of the Homespace board of directors. "After an extensive
nationwide search, Kim clearly displayed the passion and leadership we were seeking.
Her professional accomplishments and vision assure an exciting and bright future
for Homespace and those we serve."
Ms. Morris replaces long-time Executive Director
Thelma Roberts who has led the organization since 1996.
"During Ms. Roberts' tenure, Homespace fostered a safe and
caring environment for our young families; families who had nowhere
else to turn," said Keating. "Mrs.
Roberts and Homespace are, for many of us, synonymous. We are grateful
to her for her leadership and commitment to the Homespace mission
as well as her many years of service."
In addition to extensive experience
in the fields of human service and education, Ms. Morris brings familiarity
with Homespace. She joined Homespace as program manager in 2005 with
primary responsibility for Second Chance, which is Homespace's
congregate group home for 14- to 21-year-olds.
Ms. Morris has also
served as a therapeutic foster care professional with KidsPeace National
Centers in West Seneca, N.Y., and Berkshire Farm Center and Services
for Youth. She was a residential habilitation specialist with Heritage
Center, ARC, and a family service specialist/prevention services
case manager with Community Services for the Developmentally Disabled.
Morris is a graduate of Buffalo State College and holds a master's
degree in social work from the SUNY at Buffalo. |
